BIRD-ON-BIRD CRIME

Last night I was watching the nightly news on NBC, when I became aware that Precious had moved her position in the lower "barrel" of the Kat Kondo. She was facing the window, with her front feet supported on the window's ledge, staring intently outside.

FOR THE RECORD: Yes. The Girls are using my $75.00 living room investment on a consistent basis now. Wobs & Precious are the most frequent visitors to the structure.

At the same time I noticed Precious so steadfast & focused, I could see outside the window it was snowing ... BIG FLAKES.

New York State blizzard size snow flakes !!

DUH !!! Big brain phart time !!

It's September !! I've seen -- & been in -- snowstorms in New York in September, but this is Arkansas.

I focused & saw the "snow flakes" where actually FEATHERS floating in the air in the backyard.

The feathers were from a bird -- I'm pretty sure a Dove -- & the "alleged" perpetrator of the "snow storm of feathers" was a Red-Shouldered Hawk. [Always presume innocence, since the Hawk may have just arrived on the scene & was "innocently" eating the remains.]

Precious -- probably the only "witness" -- is focused on the Hawk, which is in the upper right third of the photo above. [The bird is the dark smudge in a bed of white colored feathers.]

The crime scene & the "suspect" ... along with the remains of the victim. [Gosh, if there had just been a photo that night of O.J., the glove thing would have been a mute point.]

And naturally, after the Hawk flew off, The Girls ( AKA, in this instance, "The Detectives") had to inspect the "evidence", even as I was trying to clean up some of the mess.

Ever try to rake feathers in the grass ?? It's hard to do. At the same time, feathers stick quite easily to cat fur, making The Girls look quite fashionable, wearing feathers all over themselves, especially Wobs with her feather earrings.

At this time, I believe the Hawk was GUILTY of the bird-on-bird crime.

  2. Bill,

What a crime scene!!! Great view from the Kat Kondo! The best part of this event is that all "detectives" were safely inside when the deed was done.

The photo of the "hawk standing in feathers is award-winning!

    Your family is very impressive.

  3. If the "detectives" had not been inside at the time, they might later have all been "suspects".

It's always good to have an alibi.
